Daphne Simmons Bethune, Ph.D.

Dr. Daphne Simmons Bethune is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology Virginia State University.  Additional training was received at The University of Virginia Institute of Law, Psychiatry & Public Policy as a Forensic Evaluator and at the New Jersey Institute of Alcohol and Drug Studies. 

Dr. Bethune has been providing mental and behavioral health services for over 30 years in a variety of settings and with diverse populations to include children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.  Dr. Bethune has a special interest in the assessment and treatment of ADHD, Major Depression, and Adjustment Disorders.  Well versed in a host treatment modalities, Dr. Bethune tends to emphasize the development of one’s sense of self and the elimination of negative thinking errors that often underlie symptoms of anxiety and depression.  Additionally, she welcomes opportunities to work with children who have developmental disorders and their families.

Dr. Bethune has held adjunct faculty positions at Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia State University, and Virginia Union University and membership in several professional organizations.  Other professional experiences include conducting presentations to community organizations and at professional conferences.
